Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick Review

Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick - £28

Bobbi Brown's foundation stick is the cheapest of their foundation range, and since I bought in the airport, discounts were had. But don't let this fool you: the coverage is easily medium, but buildable and layerable, and often for a night out I might wear this as a base, and then my Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24H to add more coverage around problem areas like my nose and chin. The colour selection is good; I wear shade 0, Porcelain, and there's even one shade lighter, a blessing for pale girls like myself, however it was a little too pink toned for me.

The consistency is creamy and opaque, but as it is perfume free it does have that weird unscented smell about it. It also has no SPF protection, so I like to pair it with an SPF primer during the day. This does mean that it photographs well, and you don't get the white cast on your face that SPF formulas often do. As you can see from my stunning photo, I apply it in warrior stripes across my face, and then blend out with my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush, though it can easily be blended with your fingers.

I have oily skin, and was a little scared that this pan stick style might be a little too greasy, and slip around all day, rubbing off on everyone I come into contact with. A quick search on the website even informs me that for very oily skin this product isn't recommended. While I can see it being an issue with my skin in warm climates or in the summer time, in fact, I find the formula pretty fabulous, and it's easily the foundation I can go longest without seeing shine appearing. Having said that, I am a fan of more of a matte finish to my foundation; the 'dewy' look serves only to highlight the fact my face never got over being a teenager, and the angsty pores literally seep with oil. This is a fairly dewy foundation, and if you're a fan of that look to the skin then a setting spray will keep that in tact, but I personally powder mine down.

I would recommend this foundation if you are in the market to treat yo'self to a high end foundation, or maybe want to introduce yourself to the Bobbi Brown range without breaking the bank. I would say however that you don't get a lot for your money with this foundation, 9g isn't a whole lot of product, so it might be worth trying the other incarnations for the extra £2+. I wouldn't repurchase immediately as I have hella loads of foundations I could use up, and I'm still on the hunt for a good oil absorbing foundation with good coverage (as always, if you have any suggestions, let me know! I love hearing from people).

I hope you're all well, and having a fabulous weekend.
