Topshop Lipstick Collection

By far the brand I own the most lipsticks from in my collection is Topshop. There's been a rumour floating around that their manufacturer is the same as MAC, which should give you a hint as to the quality of their products. Topshop lipsticks retail at half the price of MAC, £8, but the buttery and soft formula is by no means subpar to MAC. I therefore thought it might be a good idea to swatch and show all of my Topshop lipsticks in my ever growing collection so that it might help others looking for a particular shade, especially in seeing how the two PH reactive lipsticks look on the lips. I present to you, my Topshop lipstick collection.

Rumour Has It is definitely my favourite, and most worn, shade of all my Topshop lipsticks, as you can tell from the thoroughly battered enamel and gross bullet casing. Since discontinued it can occasionally be found on eBay, but I am desperate to find a dupe for it inevitably running out (if you have one please let me know!). A soft natural brown, this pink toned hue is perfect for a natural day when a nude lip is just too stark. I have naturally quite pigmented lips for a pale girl, and this shade is pretty much a 'my lips but better' colour. However, I think it could work on a lot of skin tones as a darker nude, especially for Autumn.

Innocent is a purple toned pink, soft on the lips, but bright enough, on pale skin especially, to be girly and pretty. Application is very opaque, more opaque than others in my collection, but the balmy texture means that it doesn't last incredibly well, and I do need to reapply within a couple of hours of wear. A fun Summer pink, but dark enough that it can be a nice transitional colour into Spring and Autumn alike.

Saint is a pale pink toned nude, and though a velvet opaque lipstick, I find on dark lips it definitely benefits from a base, and can look patchy after an hour or two wear. I find this lipstick very difficult to wear unless I have a tan, and therefore I do think it might look better on darker skin tones, but hey, if you can pull it off better than me you go girl.

Nevada is a satin finish pale nude lipstick that is almost a perfect colour match to my actual skin colour, as seen in the hand swatch. This was actually the first Topshop lipstick I ever bought, as a dupe for my much loved MAC Creme D'Nude which was borrowed and never returned in university. Creme D'Nude is a deeper nude, much more orange toned. There's a lot of swatches comparing the two online, but I have to say I prefer Nevada. It isn't as in your face nude, but I can see that on a darker skintone, it might look a lot more shocking than on me. It's perfect for pairing with a bold eye, distracting attention from the lips.

Secret Admirer is a true baby pink, but discontinued shade. Very pale velvet finish, this is an opaque lipstick, but like a lot of the paler Topshop lipsticks it does require topping up throughout the day. This is a real spring shade; super girly and pretty, but pale enough, I think, to not be a statement. It can easily be worn with darker eye makeup, but on a darker skintone could be a real statement lip.

Crystal is a pink, lightly glittered PH reactive lipstick that has since been discontinued, I think. In the bullet the lipstick is beautiful; a semi-sheer bright magenta with dense glitter packed in, however, on the lips I find that the glitter has no payoff, which is great if you don't like glitter, but I did feel a little conned myself. On my hand you can see the swatch is very light in comparison to the deep magenta that is swatched on my lips: that's PH reactive lip tints for you! I find that the formula of these, though sheer, does stain my lips, not dissimilar to a balmstain such as the Clinique Chubby Sticks, Revlon Just Bitten Kissables, or any of the other dupe incarnations that have followed. I can go a whole day with minimal reapplication, and the balminess of the lipstick does leave my lips highly nourished.

Jewel is another PH reactive lip tint by Topshop, claiming on the website to be orange. I was so disapointed, by my own body's PH to be honest, because on me it's pretty similar to Crystal, but without the occasional fleck of glitter. I was hoping for a bright orange lipstick, as orange is my favourite ever, but hopefully on you this could be a brighter shade. Again, stains just as well as Crystal but this was probably the most disappointing of all of my Topshop lipsticks.

Hazard is the newest addition to my collection, bought for wear in Autumn. Hazard is a true, bright red, with a satin finish that can be quite staining, but does require topping up every few hours to maintain colour. Apologies for my blatantly going out of the lines when applying this, but usually when I go out I do apply it with a lipstick brush just to make sure it's very precise. It isn't my favourite red lipstick, but it is a lovely pop of colour on the lips, especially pretty for this time of year, and beyond into Winter and Christmas festivities.

I hope this post was helpful, especially with regards to the PH reactive lipsticks. I'd love to hear what your favourite Topshop lipsticks are! Leave a comment below if you would like, but if you wouldn't that's okay too!

Hope you're having a good Friday.
