Liebster Award

I was nominated into the Liebster Award tag by the lovely Hannah from lacynotracy. The award itself isn't really an award; there are no judges, and no prize to speak of, but it's a nice way of bloggers who are just starting out to get recognition from someone telling them 'You're fab! Keep going at this.' You have to answer 11 questions from the person who nominated you, and then nominate 11 other blogs with less than 200 subscribers, and hand them questions to answer.

I really loved answering Hannah's questions and I hope that the 11 that I'm going to set will live up to the high standard set.

1. If you could be anyone for the day, who would you be?
Joan Holloway from Mad Men. I don't care if she's a character, she's real enough in my heart.

2. Best book you have read recently?
I've really gotten into reading autobiographies over summer, so probably Tina Fey's Bossypants, but now summer is over I'm back to reading books for my course. Easing myself back into philosophical texts, and continuing with the Tina Fey love-fest by reading 30 Rock and Philosophy.

3. Beauty product you cannot live without?
Probably either my Illamasqua blush in Tweak, or my much loved Boudoir by Vivienne Westwood perfume.

4. If you could travel anywhere in the world and money wasn't an object, where would you go?
I really like just travelling around the UK, as boring as that sounds, but I'm not one for the sun, and I hate beaches and the heat, so summer holiday destinations and my easily burnt flesh do not mix. However I'd love to travel to Oslo; I love Norway, but with the average pint being around £8, I might give it a swerve.

5. If someone made a movie about your life, who would you want to play you?
RuPaul. Nobody can capture the sass I bring quite like him. Plus I will always be jealous of those perfectly structured cheekbones; he would make me seem fierce.

6. What is your favourite fashion trend?
I am forever obsessed with plaid as a hark back to being a punk rock teen, and will be wearing it a lot this A/W; I was so excited to see it shown across NYFW, especially at Saint Laurent. I'm also really loving the whole structured oversized boxy outerwear trend that's going on at Alexander Wang, Topshop, DKNY and I think even Chanel; I'm going to be keeping my eye out for high street tailoring in this loose fitting style. I am all about the oversized. But as always when it gets to this season, I'm really looking forward to wearing velvet again, but I loved the oversized, architectural velvets shown at Armani.

7. Where do you think you will be five years from now?
I hope to be studying hard for my masters or PhD, enjoying life living in another city. I just hope I'm not scared to move away, try new things and meet new people; I am so unbelievably shy.

8. Favourite Beauty trend?
I rarely don't wear eyeliner so obviously I'm loving the resurgence of the cat eye, but matte lips making a comeback is something I am so excited for, especially the deep wine colours at Vera Wang and Miu Miu.

9. Your favourite Beauty brand? High street, I will forever love Maybelline; top products being the Rocket mascara, and the Colour Tattoos. High end, I am a slave to Clarins skincare, but Illamasqua make up is just so worth the price and I love their brand identity; they always have really unusual collections and colours you rarely find anywhere else.

10. Best buy of 2013?
I'm gonna have to say coming into Autumn it's probably my Topshop Arabel oxblood cutout boots. I wear them with everything and I can't wait to style them up with tights or thick woolly socks in the winter.

11. What is your favourite kind of music?
Forever a grunge kind of girl; Radiohead and Nirvana will always and forever be my ones, though I've recently got back into Weezer and Neutral Milk Hotel in a big way. But there will always be a special place in my heart reserved for the true Queen of England, Elton John.
